Not a Wall in the Desert by Najum Qureshi

Defying the higher echelons of hospital management is a risky undertaking, and usually will have serious consequences. Gynaecologist, Mikel Demir fails to understand this harsh political reality when asked to write a report about a midwife who had been found dead at home. Mikel does not realise the dangers of being truthful and ignores the magical mantra of the hospital management to ‘go with the flow’ when writing such a report.  Mikel's life takes another plunge when a disturbed medical student, Rohan Singh, falsely accuses him of sexual assault to further his hidden motives. He finds himself caught up in a deliberately prolonged investigation.  Finding his name skilfully blackened by senior administrators, Mikel faces a dark and uncertain future.  And this is is only the start of the dangers that await him, as Rohan continues his pursuit of revenge and his desire for sexual vengeance on Mikel.
Najum Qureshi has been a hospital doctor for the last twenty-five years. He is therefore ideally placed to write a medical thriller as he has complete understanding of the medical profession and how hospitals work. He has written a previous novel, 'Four Thousand Friends', which was published in 2012.
