Not for me, please! by Christoph J Kellner
'Not for me, please I choose to act green' is a fun, rhyming children's book designed to educate children about the challenges facing our environment and actions they can take. The story is told through the eyes of Luke, a young, confident, and caring boy. As he realizes the damage that is happening to the environment, he decides to make choices to create a positive change. Luke believes he can have a big impact on the world around him and demonstrates this through specific examples that others can follow too in their daily lives. Luke builds confidence in children to make smart choices and understand that no matter their age, even they can have an impact.
Using his helpful phrase, 'Not for me, please ', Luke shares examples of how he acts green. These acts include recycling, conserving electricity and water, reducing plastic use, bringing his own reusable bottle (zero waste), and understanding the consequences of his actions. Luke introduces the concept of 'Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse' and uses this as a clear guidepost as he gives examples under each area. Luke hopes he can teach young readers how they can make better choices that positively inpact our environment. Detailed facts and definitions throughout the book, including a reflection section to support discussion.
Lastly, for our young and big readers, Luke's included some interesting facts, definitions, and statistics on the bottom of the pages to help explain the scenario being discussed in more detail. With this information, Luke hopes to better equip you to explain to your young reader what Luke is sharing or answer some of the questions that may pop up This gives a fantastic chance for rich discussions at home, in kindergarten, elementary schools, and in reading groups. At the end of the book, there is also a reflection section which shares a list of questions to prompt dialogue about the environment, sustainability, zero waste, impact of plastic, climate change, 'recycle, reduce, and reuse', single use plastic, water and energy conservation, and acting green. Inspired by Children and Clean-up Events
Author Maria Godsey, a mother of two boys, was inspired by her children and many others in writing Luke's story. She saw how her children, once educated on of environment pollution, were self-motivated to take personal action and share their knowledge with others. After participating in a few river and park clean-up events, they had understood first-hand how important it is to take care of the environment. Educational storybook for Holidays or Events at School or Home'Not for me, please I choose to act green' is a wonderful way to introduce the topic of sustainability to children, in a way that they can understand and take part. It's perfect for reading during the Earth Day, World Environment Day, Global Recycling Day, World Pollution Day, America Recycles Day, World Ocean Day and many other key holidays.
