Not the Life Imagined by Anne Pettigrew
A darkly humorous, thought-provoking story of Scottish medical students in the sixties, a time of changing social and sexual mores. None of the teenagers starting at Glasgow University in 1967 live the life they imagine.
`There have been many books written about the world of medicine, but Anne Pettigrew brings a fresh voice and moral authority to the subjectWell-written and lively...' - Simon Brett, OBE, author of the Charles Paris series, 2014 CWA Diamond Dagger winner, RSL Fellow and judge of the Constable Silver Stag Award.
For 31 years Anne Pettigrew was a GP who also dabbled in anthropology, complementary medicine and light-
hearted columns in The Herald and medical press. Born in Glasgow, she is a graduate of the Universities of Glasgow and Oxford. She now lives in North Ayrshire and loves travelling, gardening, food and wine. She is endlessly fascinated by women's capacity to overcome adversity, and finding no literature covering the experience of modern UK women doctors, decided to write such a novel with the help of Creative Writing tuition at Glasgow University. She has won prizes for short stories and had some published, while this first novel, Not the Life Imagined, was runner-up in the SAW Constable Silver Stag Award 2018.
