The Odyssey by Homer

The Odyssey of Homer is an epic poem that was originally written by the ancient Greek poet, Homer. It tells the story of the Greek hero, Odysseus, and his ten-year journey home after the end of the Trojan War. Along the way, he faces numerous challenges and battles, including encounters with gods and monsters such as the Cyclops and the Sirens. The poem is divided into 24 books and begins with Odysseus being held captive on the island of Ogygia by the nymph Calypso. He is eventually released and sets sail for home, but his journey is far from easy. He faces obstacles such as the wrath of the sea god Poseidon, who is angry with him for blinding his son, the Cyclops.Throughout his journey, Odysseus is aided by the goddess Athena, who helps him to overcome his enemies and return home to his wife, Penelope, and son, Telemachus. Along the way, he also meets other characters such as the sorceress Circe and the swineherd Eumaeus. The Odyssey of Homer is considered one of the greatest works of Western literature and has had a profound influence on subsequent works of literature and art. It is a timeless tale of adventure, heroism, and the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
