Oh Dear, Geoffrey! by Gemma O'neill
This beautifully written book is a tale about a rather tall and clumsey giraffe called Geoffrey. He annoys all the other animals with his long legs and neck, until one day he finds he can show his friends something they have never seen before; the stars.
New illustrator Gemma O Neill has written a charming story with lovely artwork in Oh Dear Geoffrey! A rather clumsy giraffe is looking for friendship in all the wrong placesOnly when Geoffrey reaches his full height does he make friends that really appreciate him. * The Bookseller *
This gorgeous book has won the coveted title of 'Library Book of the Week' in the Bungalow.
Published in 2013, it tells the tale of clumsy Geoffrey the giraffe, who's struggling to make friends with the little animals in the wild because of his height and awkwardness. Eventually he ends up helping lots of animals in the trees, and realises that his height can be an advantage, and that there are lots of other creatures who'd love to be his friend.
There's a lovely little moral for children in this book, but the illustrations are what sets it apart. Hugely detailed, you can see each ink spot so clearly it's like climbing right into the pictures.
