He read English at Downing College, Cambridge and Education at London University, and taught for many years at the French Lycée in London as head of English. His first children's book, illustrated by Quentin Blake, was published in 1960 and they went on to work together on over 30 titles.
Quentin Blake was the very first Children's Laureate. One of the world's foremost illustrators, he has won numerous awards for both for his books and his services to children's literature. He is most well-known for his wonderful work with Roald Dahl. John Yeoman and Quentin Blake first collaborated on A Drink of Water in 1960 and have been working together ever since.
