Author Don Bullis has spent his life covering the people and places of New Mexico as a small-town newspaper editor and as a deputy sheriff and town marshal. He has traveled extensively throughout the Western United States to gather the facts, figures, and photos that made up this collection.
Don Bullis graduated from Eastern New Mexico University at Portales in 1970 with a degree in American History and Literature. In the years since, he as served in a number of positions, most notably as a small-town newspaper editor/columnist, and peace officer. He retired in 2002 after serving as a New Mexico deputy sheriff, town marshal, organized crime commissioner, and criminal intelligence operational supervisor. His earlier books include The Old West Trivia Book published in 1993, New Mexico's Finest: Peace Officers Killed in the Line of Duty, 1847-99 published in 2000, and Bloodville, published in 2002. Bullis is Sheriff of the Albuquerque Corral of Westerners International, a docent at Corrales' Casa San Ysidro and Albuquerque's Old Town, an active member of the Western Writers of America, SouthWest Writers, The Western History Association and the Sandoval County Historical Society. He lives in Rio Rancho with his wife, Gloria.
