Oliver's Must-Do List by Susan Brown
Oliver wants his mother to play with him. But when his mother checks her must-do list posted on the refrigerator door, she discovers the morning is filled with many things to do, such as laundry, ironing, grocery shopping, and other chores. So, Oliver goes off to play by himself. A similar exchange occurs when Oliver tries again later that day. So, on the following morning, Oliver presents his mother with a must-do list of his own: tell a joke, drive a race car, build a fort, count the stars, and find the Big Dipper. That's when Oliver's mother gets to work--and the fun begins.Susan W.Brown, Ph.D.: At the College of Education at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, she is currently Principal Investigator/Project Director for multiple grants, including the Southern New Mexico Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Aerospace Academy. Her funding reflect her research focus on scientific education and the under-representation of minority children and females in the fields of science, math, and engineering. She also works with NASA as an Aerospace Education Specialist and teaches early childhood and primary science methods at New Mexico State University. She has received multiple awards throughout her teaching and research career, including the Distinguished Research Award from New Mexico State University in 2004, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, the Disney/McDonald Award, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and special distinction from the New Mexico legislature. She is nationally board certified and has led numerous educator seminars, as well as presenting and publishing work both nationally and internationally.
