The Criminal Justice Act (1994) has removed the duty on local authorities to supply caravan sites for Gypsies, introduced new laws on trespass and made it hard for them to buy land for sites. This book concerns Gypsies, their history, way of life and the legislation which attempts to control them.
Donald Kenrick is the author of Historical Dictionary of the Gypsies (Romanies) and co-author of Moving On: The Gypsies and Travellers of Britain, and the first full-length study on the Romani Holocaust. He also served as first secretary of the World Romany Congress Languages Commission.
