Out of Step by Michael Carver
Field-Marshal Carver has written an account of his life and as an insider at many recent world events, his memoirs provide us with a document of great historical importance. Included are revelations on World War II and Britain's post war governments.
Field Marshal Lord Carver's career in the British Army started in 1935 in the Royal Tank Corps and has taken him all over the world. In the Second World War, he commanded a tank battalion and an armored brigade while still in his twenties. After the war, he commanded an infantry brigade and a division, held many important posts on the staff, and became Commander-in-Chief Far East in 1967, Chief of the General Staff in 1971, and Chief of the Defense Staff between 1973 and 1976.
