Oxford Handbook of Sports and Exercise Medicine by Domhnall Macauley
Sports medicine is an evolving discipline. The scientific and research base is expanding and changing views on treatment, preventive strategies, and optimal exercise prescription. Clinicians are looking for evidence, and patients are increasingly aware of the need for a scientific approach. This handbook brings together the common problems and diagnoses in sports and exercise medicine with a focused summary of the latest strategies, management plans, and evidence-based protocols. Arranged by system, it focuses on the needs of the patient and offers an immediate guide to all aspects of diagnosis and treatment, exercise benefits and epidemiology. This is a must-have text for all medics involved in sports and exercise medicine.
This is an excellent handbook and reference guideIts comprehensive review of sports medicine with a focus on quickly accessible, usable information is rare in this field...its compact size and logical arrangement by body areas makes it excellent for quick on-field review [but it is] equally useful as an office reference. Just as Harrison's Manual of Medicine, 16th edition is in every medicine resident's white coat, this handbook should be in every sports medicine fellow's medical kit. Doody's Notes,
