
Nick Freeth was born in 1956 in London and began playing the guitar when he was a youngster. He created his first book, The Acoustic Guitar, in partnership with Charles Alexander, in 1997, after a 20-year career in music radio production, first at the BBC World Service and Jazz FM, then as a freelance programmer. The Electric Guitar, by the same writers, was published the following year. Nick's following work has centered on music and American culture, including Icons of the Guitar (2001, co-authored with Cliff Douse), as well as highly acclaimed guides to Route 66 and the Pacific Coast Highway, as well as a history of the United States. during the 1940s Nick is an accomplished acoustic and electric guitarist who admires Ry Cooder, Pat Metheny, Jerry Garcia, and Frank Zappa.
