Paddington at Work by Michael Bond

When Paddington returns from his trip to Peru, he doesn't waste any time getting back to business. The Stock Exchange, the ballet, the barber's shop, Mr. Curry's kitchen...nothing is safe when Paddington gets to work.

First published in 1966, Paddington at Work is the seventh novel by Michael Bond, chronicling the adventures of this classic character. Paddington has warmed the hearts of generations of readers with his earnest good intentions and humorous misadventures. This brand-new paper-over-board edition of the classic novel contains the original text by Michael Bond and illustrations by Peggy Fortnum.

This collection of humorous stories finds Paddington trying his paw at a whole new set of jobs, with predictably chaotic results.

  • A Bear on the Trading Floor: Paddington decides to exchange a stock, leading to a city-wide chase and an unexpected encounter with Scotland Yard.
  • An Unexpected Ballet Star: When a famous dancer is in a mood, Paddington takes to the stage to save the show--with some very surprising leaps and bounds.
  • A Close Shave at the Barber's: As the new junior assistant, Paddington's first customer is in for a haircut he'll never forget.
  • Perfect for Family Read-Alouds: These six gentle and funny stories about a bear with earnest good intentions have been charming families for generations.

Michael Bond was born in the town of Newbury in the year 1926. A Bear Named Paddington, his debut children's book, was published in 1958. In 1983, he began writing adult fiction, with Monsieur Pamplemousse and his loyal bloodhound, Pommes Frites, as the protagonists. In June 2017, he unfortunately passed away.
