Paddington Takes the Air by Michael Bond

Paddington has warmed the hearts of generations of readers with his earnest good intentions and humorous misadventures. This edition of the classic novel contains the original text by Michael Bond and illustrations by Peggy Fortnum.

What other bear but Paddington could find himself sent home on his first day of school? Or questioned as a prime witness in court? Or taking a crash course in water-skiing? Trust Paddington to follow his nose for adventure, with a suitcase full of marmalade sandwiches in tow!

First published in 1970, Paddington Takes the Air is the ninth classic novel about Michael Bond's beloved classic character, Paddington Bear.

Join Paddington for a new series of misadventures:

  • A Trip to the Dentist: When Paddington loses a tooth down the sink, a simple check-up turns into chaos for the poor dentist, Mr. Leach.
  • An Unlikely Champion: At a school horse show, Paddington's performance is a disaster... until a mistaken snack of garlic gives his horse an unexpected, and hilarious, boost.
  • A Bear on the Case: Inspired by his favorite detective stories, Paddington investigates a "crime" at a department store during a thick London fog, with comical results.
  • Heartwarming and Funny: Perfect for reading aloud, these timeless, charming stories are a wonderful addition to any family's library.

Michael Bond was born in the town of Newbury in the year 1926. A Bear Named Paddington, his debut children's book, was published in 1958. In 1983, he began writing adult fiction, with Monsieur Pamplemousse and his loyal bloodhound, Pommes Frites, as the protagonists. In June 2017, he unfortunately passed away.
