Painting Tiny Treasures by Cindi Gordon
Painting in miniature involves much more than taking a normal size design and simply reducing it down to fit a small object. Using clear, step-by-step photos and 14 fun-to-paint projects, this book shows the reader how to make and paint designs that work on very small surfaces such as tiny trays, trinket boxes, nesting dolls, broaches, small picture frames, omaments, switchplates and more. Decorative painters learn how to choose patterns that are appropriate for small, curved objects, how to place repeating design elements so they come out evenly, how to adjust motifs such as flowers, ribbons and lace to fit tight curves, and how to adapt one design to fit several different shapes. The projects are painted in acrylics on a wide variety of surfaces that can easily be found in craft stores. Full-page beauty shots, black-and-white patterns, mini-demos and a complete list of materials needed are included.
Cindi Gordon studied at the Art Students League in New York City and the Minneapolis Art Institute. She owns her own business, "Handpainted for Your Pleasure" in Minnesota, and currently specializes in painting and selling glass omaments throughout the country.
