A great museum is often the focal point of an artistic metropolis. Augusto Gentili is Professor of Modern Art at the University of Venice, specializing in Venetian painting from the 1400s to the 1500s. He has written extensively on Carpaccio, Titian, Tintoretto and Lotto.
