Shortly before his death in 1984, Brassaï explained how the city of Paris had served as an infinite source of inspiration-a unifying theme that characterised each phase of his artistic oeuvre and lay at the very heart of his work. Brassaü¾™¦”¼ (born Gyula Halü¾Œ–”¼sz, 1899-1984) was a photographer, journalist, and author of many photographic monographs and literary works, including Letters to My Parents, Conversations with Picasso, and Proust in the Power of Photography. Jane Marie Todd has translated a number of books, including Conversations with Picasso by Brassaü¾™¦”¼, Largesse by Jean Starobinski, and The Forbidden Image by Alain Besanü¾¶”¼on.
