An enlightening informative book tailor-made for toddlers about the forester and everything she (or he) does. For nature lovers ages 4 and up. Today, we head out with the forester. Do any trees have to be cut down or planted? Are there any animals in the forest that weren’t there before? Is the forest clean or did someone dump trash? Is there a walk in the dark on the program? The forester keeps an eye on all of that and protects nature.

The book was very informative for the children and had a lot of information for the children to exploreThe pictures within the book helped to clarify some of the words that the children were unsure of ... This book was also helpful as it tied into our current class project of 'safety'. We were able to look at the various materials the Park Ranger needed and talk about why they would be useful and in what situations they would be needed. As a class we also looked at the different tools the Park Ranger had and discussed safety measures to use around the tools. Very cool enrichment book for elementary kids! I learned a lot about the many and varied responsibilities of a park ranger and I'm sure kids will find it fascinating too. The information is detailed, but clear and simple for young kids to understand. It's also nice to see the park ranger represented in a BIPOC female, even though the field is still male-dominated. The illustrations are vivid, evocative, and quite cute. They will work well to engage kids with the information presented. This book has bright, engaging and friendly illustrations. It also includes a good amount of information on park rangers and the work that they do. The dress and equipment of the rangers are described as are some of the many jobs that they do. For example, park rangers check on the forest after a storm. They may take people on nature walks. They also may have to decide if there are tress that need to be cut down.

Children may well be intrigued by the many facets of the ranger's job. At the end of the book there is a quiz in which readers decide in what season a job may be completed.

Liesbet Slegers (1975, Belgium) studied Graphics and Illustrations at the Saint-Lucas institute of Antwerp. She works as a fulltime graphic designer and illustrator. With her simple, recognizable style and vivid colours she knows how to attract the attention of every toddler. In her many books, Slegers frequently focuses on “the first experience of a toddler,” a time she characterized as “exciting but also very scary!
