The Peak District by Fran Halsall

Since the 1932 Mass Trespass of Kinder Scout, the Peak District has grown in popularity among walkers and ramblers to become the second most visited national park in the world, after Mount Fuji in Japan. Photographer Fran Halsall presents a stunning photographic portrait of its many moods through the seasons, from the heather moorland and exposed sandstone outcrops of the Dark Peak to the limestone hills and wildflower grasslands that characterise the White Peak. Her informed and inspirational text celebrates the Peak Park's beauty, heritage and drama and explores the relationship between Man and Nature in this changing and complex landscape.
A fascinating photographic tour charting the Peak's ever-changing moods throughout the seasonsPeak District Life This [book] is no mere tourist's collection [of photographs] and it documents this vast and wild area in terms of its changing seasons, its 'restless weather' and the subtle human influences on the landscape since Neolithic times. Independent It's only when you see the perfect picture that realisation strikes - photography is as much an art as that practised by Van Gogh, Monet or Damien Hirst. And so, opening Fran Halsall's Peak District is like stepping through the doors of the Tate - this is art created by camera and camerawoman. Yorkshire Post Fran Halsall has focused on this beautiful area of northern England to produce a stunning collection of images and a book to prove that she's a force to be reckoned with. Fran has turned in pictures with flare and imagination. Not just a fair-weather snapper, she has battled the elements in all seasons to capture the best of the Peaks in perfect pixels, This book will suit tourists, visitors and photographers looking for tripod holes and keen to replicate Fran's winning pictures.
