Peanuts: a Scanimation Book by Rufus Butler Seder
Good grief! The newest addition to the New York Times bestselling Scanimation family features Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the Peanuts gang in ten memorable scenes.
Rufus Butler Seder is an artist, filmmaker, and inventor who has been fascinated with antique optical toys—and the principles behind them—since he was young. About twenty years ago he wondered if he could make a new sort of moving picture using no electricity, special lighting, or moving parts. After much experimentation he developed Lifetiles, optical glass-tiled murals that appear to come to life, move, and change when the viewer walks or rides by. For the past sixteen years Rufus has been designing large-scale, permanent installations of these “movies for the wall” in aquariums, science museums, train stations, and other public places around the globe. The worldwide success of Lifetiles inspired Rufus to found EyeThink, Inc., a company that develops and produces a line of optically animated toys and gifts based on the technologies he invented and patented on his Lifetile installations. One of these innovations, a patented process called Scanimation, is the technology behind Peanuts. Rufus lives in Boston. Peanuts is his seventh book.
