A Pennine Childhood by Ernest Dewhurst

Set in a sunlit clearing between two World Wars, this personal narrative describes the author's earliest memories of life at home and on the farm in the Pennines, of family, relatives and friends, school and chapel, and the excitement of travelling fairs and Christmas dos.
Ernest Dewhurst was born in 1926. For twenty-one years he was a journalist with the Northern Daily Telegraph (now the Lancashire Evening Telegraph), the last few as chief feature writer; he also worked for the Guardian for eleven years before it moved from Manchester to London. Ernest lives in Lathom, Lancashire, with his wife Renee.
