Jim Baggott is an award-winning science writer who works as a freelance science writer in Reading. He began his career as a scientist, earning a degree in chemical physics from Oxford University in the early 1980s before doing post-doctoral research at Oxford and Stanford University in California. After five years as a tenured lecturer at the University of Reading, he left to get experience in the commercial world. He spent 11 years at Shell International Petroleum before leaving to start his own business consulting and training firm. In 1989, he was awarded the Marlow Medal by the Royal Society of Chemistry for his contributions to scientific research.
