Personal Effects of the German Soldier in World War II by Chris Mason

German soldiers, sailors and airmen of WWII went to war with a fascinating variety of personal effects in their pockets and knapsacks. This book explores this most personal, private, and often poignant aspect of military history, through a study of the small items German soldiers used in the barracks and in the trenches for work, hygiene, eating, relaxation, and survival.

Dr. Chris Mason has a bachelor's degree in business administration and a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology. Throughout the course of his forty-year career, he has had a direct impact on tens of thousands of enterprises, where his models and teachings have helped huge organizations, small firms, and start-ups develop successful strategies. Mason worked as a consultant for organizations including Robert Bosch, Nissan, and the BBC in his early years. He has a background in human resources and high technology, and the Australian government has granted him permission to deliver numerous export development and company growth programs. Mason launched Mindshop in Melbourne, Australia, in 1994, and expanded it two years later to the United Kingdom and North America.

Coaching senior members, coordinating strategic direction, and administering programs for Mindshop Excellence, Mindshop's charity trust, are all part of his present job as chairman. He also works as a director for a number of companies in the HVAC, IT, and consulting fields. Mason has always considered books to be his most valuable instructors as an avid reader.
