Phantom Castle by Charlotte Middleton
Big Cat for Little Wandle Fluency has been developed in collaboration with Wandle Learning Trust and Little Sutton Primary School. It consists of a range of chapter books with increasing word counts across 10 fluency levels aimed at children in Year 2 and 3. Each book builds reading confidence, stamina and speed and nurtures a love for reading.Similar to Bel, I also have a limb difference, and just like Bel, it didn’t particularly restrict my day to day activities. I didn’t want this story to be about Bel’s limb difference, because her life is not all about that, just as mine isn’t. She is getting on with her life, with her version of ‘normal’ which is unique for everyone of us. Instead I chose to write a story about something I look back at fondly, my family holidays; they were such a happy time of my childhood. We had many trips out, whilst on holiday, including sight seeing, although unfortunately, we didn’t experience any haunted castles quite like the one in the story!
