Philip Stokes earned a BA(Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Reading in 1993 and a Master's degree in Philosophy from Bristol University in 1995. Quine was the subject of his Masters dissertation, which was a Wittgensteinian critique of Quine. Philip returned to academia after several years in academic publication, beginning his doctorate at the University of Reading, where he was a Course teacher in the Department of Continuing Education. In 2005, he accepted a position as a member of the Language Faculty at Chulalongkom University in Thailand.
