A Picture History Of Great Discoveries by Clarke Hutton

`[Reviews for A Picture History of Britain]: '. . its coloured lithographs [are] a delight' Christina Hardyment, The Independent `First published in 1945 and full of the optimism of that post-war moment, this is a visually delightful recreation of the past which emphasises the cultural and social developments as well as the big and familiar historical moments. A beautiful book and one to treasure.' Julia Eccleshare, The Guardian `. . . vivid vignettes and elegant illustration' Amanda Craig, The Times `. . . this is the sort of stylish and idiosyncratic stuff that you want to keep as your very own and not let your children anywhere near.' Nicola Smyth, The Independent
