Pillars Of Salt by Joanna Bell
Alice's world collapses when her husband Rob has a heart attack at 40 - in another woman's bed. Rob was the perfect GP and, she thought, the perfect husband. Left with three teenage children, his recalcitrant parrot, and even his job, Alice copes - but still wonders, three years on, how she got it so wrong. Now the family faces big decisions and the practice's future comes under review. Alice's best friend Martha and her obviously conspiring children think a new man would sort her out - and the gorgeous locum, Tom Lovejoy, seems just what the doctor ordered. But Alice knows she has to learn to trust her own judgement again, before she can make the choices that will affect them all.
Joanna Bell is a GP who lives in a Suffolk cottage with her husband, six children and a vast number of thatch spiders. She was one of the first women at Caius College Cambridge, but has also worked as a night porter and a topless dancer. She spends her spare time giving lifts to her children. She is afraid of nothing but, even so, her husband deals with the spiders.
