Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi

Walker Illustrated Classics is a new series which brings together some of the best-loved stories ever told, illustrated by some of today's finest artists. The classics have never looked so good! To be a real boy that is the heart s desire of Pinocchio, a little wooden puppet carved by the old carpenter Geppetto out of a special piece of wood. But the wooden puppet is naughty, mischievous and bold, and has many adventures and faces many challenges before he can become a good little boy at last. This superb new translation by award-winning translator Emma Rose is matched by Sara Fanelli s playful illustrations in this witty version of Carlo Collodi s classic story.

INIS ...will give children the opportunity to stretch their aesthetic wings on a good tale well told. School Librarian Beautifully translated, this is a gorgeous book with Sara Fanelli's original and imaginative illustrations incorporating drawing, painting, photographs and collage. A real pleasure. The Financial Times -- Financial Times Financial Times Fanelli invests this beautifully-produced Pinocchio with a witty sense of street theatre. Magnificent...and deliciously sinister. -- The Guardian The Guardian
Carlo Collodi (1826 90) is the pen-name of Carlo Lorenzini who was born in Florence. The son of a cook and a servant, he began his writing career as a journalist before turning to children s stories. Pinocchio was a huge success when it was first published and, with its strong sense of morality tempered by exuberant humour and spirit, is still one today.
