Pirate Penguin vs Ninja Chicken Volume 1: Troublems With Frenemies by Ray Friesen
Two best frenemies have tons of fun, fights, and frozen treats in this collection of comics featuring the funniest pair of fowl you've ever seen. Pirate Penguin and Ninja Chicken are friends. Or maybe they're enemies. Heck, if they can't keep track, then how can we ? Whatever they are, they're definitely hilarious. We think you'll like this book: there are about a bajillion jokes inside, and it's filled with action, adventure and arguments. Sometimes the stories are really teeny, about stuff like ice cream smoothies or making fun of your friends (just like real life ), and sometimes the story gets really epic-tastic, filled with spaceships and giant monsters and evil koalas and stuff (just like real life ). Plus, since it's about pirates, there are at least 17 swordfights (that's the rule with pirates).Perfect for friends, enemies, and frenemies, this full-color collection of wacky adventures will keep you cracking up with no troublem.
Ray Friesen is currently 22 years old, but by the time you read this, he may not be. Ray draws a lot of ridiculous things, most of which feature penguins. (If you're reading this in the past, Time Travel High Five!) Ray has been drawing cartoons from he was four years old, but has been a professional artist since the age of four. (A wind energy firm utilized a number of his cutesy animals and windmills drawings for their 'clean energy for everyone' campaign.) Ray self-published his first comic book, The Continuing Adventures of Raymon, when he was twelve years old. The titular character in Wonderful bore a striking similarity to the author. Ray will be the first to point out that he is writing this autobiography in the third person if he is accused of having a huge ego.
I'm fantastic! Ray was nominated for the Ignatz Award for Promising New Talent in 2003 (he claims to be the youngest person ever, however he has done no actual research to back up this claim.) Ray has spent the past however many years attempting to take over the world by covert doodling. Ray performs school visits, so if you're a teacher and would want him to speak with your students, please contact us and we'll see what we can do! More of Ray's musings, as well as his current weekly webcomic, can be seen at www.DontEatAnyBugs.com.
Ray's first Top Shelf graphic novel will be released in 2011.
