Plants of the Western Boreal Forest and Aspen Parkland by Derek Johnson
Over 620 species of trees, shrubs, wildflowers, grasses, ferns, mosses and lichens are illustrated and described, covering the northern forest from Alaska to Minnesota.
Derek Austin Johnson has lived most of his life in the Lone Star State. A member of the Turkey City Writer's Workshop, his work has appeared in Rayguns Over Texas! edited by Rick Klaw, Nova Express, Moving Pictures, Her Majesty's Secret Servant, and Revolution SF. His film column 'Watching the Future' appears each month on SF Signal. Linda's interest in rare species began in 1976 with her MSc thesis on rare and endangered Canadian plants. Over the past 25 years, her work has focussed on biophysical inventories in the Yukon, NWT and Alberta. She has authored and contributed to many field guides and papers. Linda now works as a writer and editor when not pursuing her two favorite pastimes: photography and illustration. Andy MacKinnon is a research ecologist with the BC Forest Service and also an adjunct professor at the School of Resource and Environmental Management at SFU.
