Poet of the Caribbean

musings of a global peacemaker

By Mama Lizzie

a true story about rising from the ashes told in Poetry & Prose

darkness and light which took her on the journey of The Phoenix and resulted in the creation of a global peace initiative. 'Poet of the Caribbean' was inspired by her second visit to St. Vincent & The Grenadines and her newly-given name Mama Lizzie. The book is designed to serve 'The Bigger Picture.

Mama Lizzie, however, was compelled to write this book in which she shares her experience and passes on the teaching that she gleaned from enduring abuse, extreme loss, mental illness and the double-edged sword of her gifts. Told with unflinching honesty, vision and conviction, 'Poet of the Caribbean' is a living testimony to her personal motto 'Be Original - Be Yourself' and her signature poem 'Sexy Hymn' - celebrating woman.

commitment to the on-going path of self-realisation is clear and her work is rooted in psychological, spiritual and holistic understanding.

role model of courage and forgiveness whom she met after sending him 'Dear Mr. Lomax' - a poem which conveys both her horrific experience of mind-control and a powerful message of individual and collective

Mama Lizzie's quest.

Lizzie Davies, affectionately known as Mama Lizzie is an innovator, artist, writer and performance poet actively involved in the creation and promotion of peace. As a cult-survivor late in life, her odyssey of darkness and light resulted in a teaching which she is passing on through her multimedia work. This encapsulates her personal motto Be Original - Be Yourself and her signature poem 'Sexy Hymn' - celebrating woman. She was given the name Mama Lizzie on her second trip to St. Vincent and the Grenadines - a visit which inspired her to write 'Poet of the Caribbean' and use this as a vehicle to tell her story. Her cult experience of spiritual, mental, emotional and financial abuse was one of total annihilation. Losing her beloved new husband, her home, all her money and possessions and nearly her mind, was all part of her trial by fire. Creativity and her inner life were Mama Lizzie's salvation on her long road of recovery which took her through times of deep despair, mental illness and crippling PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). She wrote and performed her own one-woman show Performance Piece and has recited her work on BBC Radio, at a wide range of events such as peace conferences in the UK and abroad. Lizzie is Founder of The Global Circle of Peace and created Time for Peace - an interactive arts project which was a recipient of the 1999 Gordon Wilson Peace Award. She is the originator of the CANDALA(R) and Creative Director of the CANDALA(R) Project. In 1979 she had a profound spiritual awakening which changed her life. This led to her undergoing Jungian analysis and studying dream analysis with the renowned Jungian, the late Dr. Winifred Rushforth OBE, who later became a founding Trustee of FORDEAH (Foundation Offering Relief of Disability through Education Arts and Healing), the London-based charity that Mama Lizzie founded. She trained at the Adam Darius School of Mime in Hampstead, London, has over thirty years experience in the arts and personal development and is an experienced presenter, workshop facilitator and event organiser. Having risen from the ashes and with a wealth of wisdom now behind her, Mama Lizzie is passionate about sharing her path of creative expression and self-transformation as a way to inspire, empower and uplift others. She is now using her performance and poetry as a contemporary, accessible way of storytelling to promote self-enquiry, conversation and multi-generational communication.
