Dr. George G. Szpiro, geboren 1950 in Wien, studierte Mathematik an der Eidgenü¾¦˜¼ssischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) Zü¾˜¶˜¼rich, Betriebswirtschaft an der Stanford University (USA) und wurde 1984 an der Hebrü¾†”¼ischen Universitü¾†”¼t Jerusalem (Israel) in Mathematischer ü¾¦¼konomie promoviert. Er forschte an der Hebrü¾†”¼ischen Universitü¾†”¼t Jerusalem, an der University of Pennsylvania (USA) und an der Universitü¾†”¼t Zü¾˜¶˜¼rich (Schweiz). Zusü¾†”¼tzlich war er als Management-Berater fü¾˜¶˜¼r McKinsey & Co. in Zü¾˜¶˜¼rich, Mü¾˜¶˜¼nchen und London tü¾†”¼tig. Er ist Autor zahlreicher Artikel in Fachzeitschriften fü¾˜¶˜¼r Mathematik, Physik und Wirtschaft. Fü¾˜¶˜¼r die ü¾˜¦„¼Neue Zü¾˜¶˜¼rcher Zeitung ist Szpiro seit 1986 als Israel-Korrespondent und seit 1997 als Journalist fü¾˜¶˜¼r das Ressort Wissenschaft und Technik tü¾†”¼tig. George Szpiro erhielt 2006 den Medienpreis der Deutschen Mathematiker-Vereinigung fü¾˜¶˜¼r die Popularisierung der Mathematik. Er lebt und arbeitet in Jerusalem.
