When Sam leaves to find his father and get his magic back, things in Edge begin to go awry. Annie is kept busy with the townspeople's sudden unexplained interest in her ability with the Tarot. How this came about she is not sure. But when she gets the sense that Sam is in trouble, she begs Cecily, her co-worker, to care for her baby daughter while she investigates.But instead of heading to Atenua, the planet where Sam is, she is accosted and taken elsewhere, a situation that she is not sure how to handle.
