1821. First Edition Thus. 138 pages. Quarter bound red leather with brown paper covered boards. Note: a heavily damaged book with several missing pages, and crossed-out text. Contains B&W engravings, all present as expected. Pages are heavily marked with intense tanning and foxing, plus heavy thumbing. Gutters somewhat cracked with some exposed netting. Binding is firm. Half of p51 has been cut out and removed. Some phrases and sentences have been heavily crossed out in black ink. Remaining text is legible. Sporadic scribbles, inscriptions etc in pencil and pen to endpapers, pastedowns and throughout. Some water stains also. Plates intensely foxed. A few dog-eared corners. Boards have heavy edge wear, with intense bumping and peeling to corners, while spine ends are very crushed and peeling. Joints worn too with splits. Intensely scratched, rubbed and marked overall; slight warping and liquid stains too. Lettering hard to read.
