Polar Vortex by Denise Dorrance
In the middle of a brutal winter snowstorm, Susan must return to her claustrophobic hometown in America's Midwest to organise urgent care for her elderly mother who is progressively lost to the swirling confusion of dementia. With her mother in hospital and the insurance running out, Susan wrestles with childhood memories and a toxic relationship with her sister. Pressure mounts after their mother is abruptly discharged and a decision has to be made about her future... Polar Vortex is a powerful ode to family and memory. With her signature wry humour, Denise Dorrance creates a moving portrait of mothers and daughters, and explores the true meaning of home.
