People who help us is a new series looking at the range of different ways in which particular professions help in our communities. The books are packed full of colour photographs showing how people work together and the equipment they use to do their jobs. The Police - The team at Wimbledon Police Station in London explain the different jobs they do - from dog handling to piloting helicopters - looking at how their roles link together, and how they work with other groups to help people in their community.
Clare Oliver has written around fifty information books for children. For Franklin Watts, she has authored the Just the Job series and other Citizenship titles include three in the Animals That Help Us series, one of which was shortlisted by NASEN for its Special Educational Needs Book Award. Her favourite moment in working on the People Who Help Us series was being allowed to steer the Tynemouth lifeboat up the Tyne! Clare lives in East London.
