Stephen Beaton qualifies as a doctor shortly before the outbreak of WWII, and gains his pilot's license at the same time. However when his comrade Digger is badly burned in air crash it emerges that Stephen has a talent for plastic surgery, and he is posted to a severe burns unit in Kent. There he can put his talent for reconstructive surgery to good use, but there too Digger is falling in love with the girl Stephen's been in love with all his life...
