Postmodernism by Andrew Butler

The only book to approach postmodernism in an easy-to-digest fashion (best enjoyed whilst listening to Finnish-Hindi fusion blues and eating a hamburger in Red Square), the ideas of leading theorists such as Jean-Francois Lyotard, Jean Baudrillard and Fredric Jameson, the brave new virtual world of postmodern science fiction, and the intersection of feminism and postmodernism are all explained and examined. A range of books, films, artists and TV series are discussed from the point of view of postmodern aesthetics, and arguments against postmodernism are explored.
Andrew M Butler is Senior Lecturer Media and Cultural Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University College and author of the Pocket Essentials Terry Pratchett, Philip K Dick, Cyberpunk and, with Bob Ford, Postmodernism. He was the winner of the 2004 Pioneer Award and would collect shiny trousers in his spare time if he had any. Bob Ford tries to avoid teaching in York and in his spare time worries that his affect has waned.
