The Practice Is the Path by Tias Little
Internationally known yoga teacher Tias Little shares powerful, inspiring wisdom from a lifetime of practice. For over 30 years, Tias Little has explored yoga as a spiritual path. In this book he offers key teachings from his journey that will resonate with anyone who has dedicated themself to a mind-body discipline. In short, accessible chapters, Little shares his struggles and joys as a yogi and chronicles the transformation of his understanding and practice along the way. There are many physical and emotional trials that come up in yoga as a spiritual practice: the urge toward perfectionism, the desire to get it all right, the way we push ourselves in the practice, being with not-knowing, and the many ways some people use yoga as a sedative. To help the reader embody and experience each theme, Little includes companion practices at the end of each chapter including poses, reflections, meditations, and explorations.Students can get a deeper understanding and awareness of their practice both on and off the mat because to TIAS LITTLE's unique and skilled approach. His method of practice is multidisciplinary, passionate, clever, inventive, and insightful. Years of study in traditional yoga, Sanskrit, Buddhist studies, anatomy, massage, and trauma treatment have culminated in Tias. Tias began studying B.K.S. Iyengar's work in 1984, and in 1989, he lived in Mysore, India, where he studied Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Pattabhi Jois. As a result, his teaching combines alignment perfection, anatomical detail, and a profound spiritual experience.
Tias is a certified massage therapist who has also completed extensive training in cranial-sacral therapy. Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Thomas Hanna's work have inspired his practice and teaching. Tias has studied the contemplative arts and Buddhist studies for a long period, beginning with Vipassana and progressing through Tibetan Buddhism and Zen. His teaching technique is unique in that he can combine poetic metaphor with precise instruction that is full of compassion and humor.
Tias has a Master's degree in Eastern Philosophy from St. John's University. In 1998, I graduated from St. John's College in Santa Fe. The Thread of Breath, Meditations on a Dewdrop, and Yoga of the Subtle Body are Tias' three books.
