Prayers For Lifes Particular... by M Mcrae
A collection of liturgies, including material to use in church, for personal contexts, or in witness to the broader community. The liturgies have a focus on ceremonies and celebrations for key moments in personal development, and simple but powerful ritual actions are often a feature. The book includes liturgies for Christmas and the Transfiguration, celebrating the life of older people, sacramental meals for house groups and commissioning workers in the community. The liturgies in the book can be used as they stand, or serve as a model and inspiration for anyone developing worship material. They are written from a free church perspective, but can be used right across the Christian spectrum.
Dorothy McRae-McMahon is a minister in the Australian Uniting Church. She was Moderator for Worship at the WCC World Assemblies at Canberra in 1990 and Harare in 1998. Both the worship times she arranged were much praised for their power and spiritual impact. Two of the liturgies included in this book were written for the Harare assembly. Several of her prayers were included in Prayers Encircling the World and she has also written another book of liturgies called, Liturgies for the Journey of Life (SPCK, 2000).
