Perry Hinton is a psychologist and has taught the use of SPSS to a wide range of students from disciplines including communication and media, education, linguistics, nursing, psychology and social work. He is joint author of SPSS Explained, also published by Routledge. His own research is on interpersonal perception and he has written three books on the topic.

Isabella McMurray is a senior lecturer in psychology. She has taught SPSS to students in psychology, applied social studies and nursing and is joint author of SPSS Explained, also published by Routledge. Isabella undertakes consultancy, training and research with local authorities and charities, including working with social workers, probation services, parenting programmes, education and road safety teams.
