Jerome Rothenberg, multiple award winning poet/translator/editor/essayist, is the author of over 80 volumes of published poetry, a dozen important books of translations, and ten groundbreaking anthologies of contemporary and traditional poetry, including Technicians of the Sacred and, with Pierre Joris and Jeffrey C. Robinson, the Poems for the Millenium series of books. President of Desolation & Other Poems comprise Rothenberg's writings over the last two years.Jerome Rothenberg is a well-known poet who has published over ninety books of poetry as well as nine anthologies of traditional and avant-garde poetry. He has been associated with many types of poetry performance since the late 1950s, including a theatrical adaptation of his book Poland/1931 and a musical adaptation of Khurbn. He has long been a driving force in the development of ethnopoetics through his anthologies and magazines, and he has also translated a wide spectrum of poets. Several prizes (a Guggenheim fellowship, a Wenner-Gren Foundation award for experimental ethnopoetic translation, many National Endowment for the Arts awards, an honorary doctorate from the State University of New York, etc.) have been given to him for his work in various fields. In 2008, a first French translation of Technicians of the Holy was released. He was a professor of visual arts and literature at the University of California, San Diego, until recently.
