He was the restaurant reviewer and television critic for The Sunday Times, as well as contributing to Vanity Fair, GQ, and Esquire, and being the author of eleven books. From the Amnesty International Media Award to the Hatchet Job of the Year Award (for his excoriating takedown of Morrissey's Autobiography), his writing has won numerous honours. In December of 2016, he passed away.
