Pride and Prejudice and Passports by Corrie Garrett

Pride and Prejudice is very different in the time of Pok mon Go, Brexit. and, er, Trump? Meet>la familia>Benitez, a happy and chaotic family who live and work in Southern California.

Elisa is the middle of three sisters, and she's almost finished her degree at CSU Northridge when disaster strikes. Sure the disaster is in the form of a young, handsome, friendly politician named Charles Leigh, and sure, he might be genuinely interested in her older sister. But Elisa only foresees heartbreak.

Charles doesn't know Elisa and her family are a mix of anchor babies, DACA recipients, and straight-up undocumented immigrants. The Benitezes are going to be a grab bag of trouble for him, and even if Charles could cope with it personally, would he ever risk his promising political career for such a liability? Elisa is pretty sure the answer is no.

William Darcy is also sure his friend is making a mistake with this new relationship. Darcy doesn't know the details, but he's pretty sure the Benitez family won't help his friend's re-election. On the other hand, Darcy is fighting his own interest in Elisa, even while telling his friend to leave her sister alone. Why is arguing with Elisa more interesting than agreeing with anyone else?

Darcy's younger sister Giana is also invested in the situation. After all, what's a sister to do for her awkward big brother who doesn't know he's crazy in love, but to give him a second chance?

For lovers of The Lizzy Bennet Diaries and other contemporary explorations of Jane Austen's>Pride and Prejudice, comes Pride and Prejudice and Passports, a clean, thoughtful retelling of friendship, family, and fiercely strong loyalties.
