Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
In a remote Hertfordshire community, the Bennet family has a sensitive enterprise - Mrs Bennet must find husbands for her five young daughters before too long. So with the arrival of some eligible young men in the neighbourhood, naturally there is excitement. But misconceptions and hasty judgements lead to heartache and scandal before true love and understanding come to the fore in this classic story that sparkles with romance, wit and emotional force.
Jane Austen was born in 1775 in Steventon, Hampshire and died in 1817. She published many novels in her lifetime including Sense and Sensability, Mansfield Park and Emma. Northanger Abbey and Persuasion were published after her death. Her work is studied widely in schools and universities and is the subject of much scholarly and critical work. Austen's novels are also widely read by ordinary people, simply for pleasure. Meg Cabot is the author of many books for young adults including the phenomenally successful Princess Diaries series. Meg currently lives in Key West, Florida.
