As family photography became increasingly popular in the second half of the nineteenth century, the inclusion of the family dog in the picture became virtually de rigeur. Libby Hall has been collecting photographs of dogs since the 1960s and from her enormous archive she has chosen a winning line-up. Some are hilarious, some moving, some are heartbreaking. Libby Hall began collecting dog photographs in the 1960s. A press photographer herself, she has worked for numerous publications including the VILLAGE VOICE. She lives in London.
