Feintuch was a late bloomer when it came to writing, having previously worked as a lawyer and an antiques dealer. At the age of fifty, he was awarded the John W. The International Science Fiction Society's Campbell Award for Best New Writer was given to him. With his Rodrigo of Caledon series, which includes The Still and The King, he eventually moved into the fantasy genre.
