Gallagher lives in Florida with her husband, Marty Burke, as well as five dogs, three cats, and a grumpy parrot. Gallagher was a professional folk singer with the 1970s, and in the 1980s, he also composed songs and dabbled in whimsical fantasy painting. She is best known for Woof: The House Dragon, a hand-colored print series for which she won a Hugo Award for Outstanding Fan Artist in 1988. Her debut novel, The Alien Dark (TSR1990), was released in 1990. Gallagher is the author of nearly 70 books, including works for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, Smallville, and Star Trek franchises.
