Probation by Tom Mendicino
Andy Nocera is on probation after being arrested for solicitation in a public toilet. After being kicked out by his wife and fired by his father-in-law, he now lives with his mother and has a job selling display shelving across the country. The 'highlight' of his week is a court-mandated counselling session with a psychiatrist who also happens to be a Jesuit priest. Resistant at first, Andy gradually surrenders to his persistent probing as to why a content married man would risk his seemingly perfect life for an anonymous sexual encounter.
Tom Mendicino spent six raucous years roaming the country and eking out a living in the Sales Department of several New York publishing houses before attending the law school of the University of North Carolina. His stories, some of them excerpts from Probation, have appeared in several recent anthologies. Readers can visit his website at www.tommendicino.com.
