South Carolinian Alexander F. John M. Stickney holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. A former consulting engineer, Stickney is a retired captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He and his wife, Priscilla, have two naval officer sons and a daughter, who is a charter boat captain. They live on a lake near Columbia, South Carolina.
